The Green Khutbah Campaign is an international call-out made by our Canadian brothers and sisters from khaleafa.com. On Friday, April 22, 2016, (International Earth Day) Muslims will be encouraged by their religious leaders to look to Islamic principles to ‘Green Their Deen’ and promote greater environmental awareness. The Khutbah (which can be adapted for a pre-jumuah lecture by religious leaders), is titled “Let’s Create a Sustainable Future: Curbing Consumption, Conserving Energy & Commuting Smarter”. It first introduces the listener to what it means to be a khaleaf of the earth and how we need to appreciate and proactively respect the aayaat (signs) of Allah SWT that we find all around us. The lecture proceeds to speak on how our materialism, wastefulness and bad travel habits must be addressed as individuals and communities.
Green Deen South Africa would like to encourage all our imaams and ustaadhs to use this Green Khutbah on Friday, 22 April 2016. Use it as a lecture in our masaajid, religious gatherings, schools and makhtabs.
